Also 2001 2002 2004 2005. I looked around for a video showing how to replace an alternator on a VW Passat but only found videos replacing the 2.0 and Audi type. In one video I came across on the Tube a guy talked about how he did the replacement while pointing at what he removed in order to do so. I decided to make a video for anyone in the position I was in. In this video you'll see how easy to ca be done by following the steps provided. If you have all the tools and replacement part this could take as little as 30 minutes to complete. There are cut outs/notches on the side of the alternator that look like they were in the design in order to make this a quick job. I don't take credit as I am not the designer however I do think it is important to have a video detailing this way of replacing the alternator. The alternators installed for Volkswagon 1.8t Passat with automatic transmissions are 90amp from the manufacturer, while the manual transmissions have 120amp alternators installed from the manufacturer. The automatic version of this vehicle can have a 90amp or 120amp alternator installed. They are both an exact fit. I really hope this video is helpful to anyone looking to do this themselves.
