How to fix a pool leak D.I.Y In this video I will show how I was able to patch a pool leak in an old pool's main drain around the suction line. This pool was built in the 70s so the main drain was formed out of concrete rather than having a manufactured plastic main drain. This pool is located in Florida so the water table is very high. I did not need to use any dye for a dye test. When I showed up on the job the pool was almost completely drained and it was obvious that in-ground water was seeping it's way into the pool. This leak was detected before I ever showed up and was once sealed using Pool Putty. I knew this because I could see were the Pool Putty had been applied around the suction line previously. The Pool Putty worked great with water in the pool because of the outward pressure the body of water produced. A leaky pool not only cost money in chemicals but can bring your water bill higher and higher every single month. Not only can it become a money drainer but also a time consumer. If the water level of your pool is constantly dropping you may have a pool leak. There are many different tests that can be preformed by you that don't require a professional leak detector. You can do a bucket test, pressure test and even a dye test all on your own.
